A month of many thank yous

May 01, 2021

Thank you teachers and nurses

This month is all about showing our appreciation for the selflessness of others. We give our thanks to the teachers and nurses who have stepped up to be there for us throughout the pandemic. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, we talk about why a DIY security system is the perfect way to thank Mom for all she’s done. And, of course, we pay tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives for our country on Memorial Day.

Teachers Appreciation Day

From classrooms to living rooms

Give a shoutout to your favorite teacher on Tuesday, May 4th for National Teacher Appreciation Day. (Although, we think they deserve our recognition every day.) Many teachers had to give up their classrooms in favor of kitchens and living rooms, and some have needed to bravely return to teaching in person despite the ongoing pandemic. It’s safe to say that this past year has been difficult for educators, so be sure to let them know that their hard work and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed.

Remote learning can also be a challenge for parents who aren’t used to having their kids home during the day. If you’ve found yourself pulling double duty between parenting and your day job, a Blue by ADT Indoor Camera can help you keep tabs on the kiddos. Here’s how:

Check in from the office or the other room by streaming live HD video of the little ones via the Blue by ADT mobile app.

Let them know lunch is ready, give them a heads up that you’ll be home late or just say “I love you” with the 2-way talk feature.

Get alerts when the babysitter arrives by adding their picture to your camera’s facial recognition library.

Nurses Week

Thank you, nurses

Teachers aren’t the only ones who have selflessly dedicated themselves to the greater good throughout the pandemic. This month, we also want to thank the nurses and frontline healthcare workers who put their lives on the line to help patients every day.

National Nurses Week kicks off on May 6th and ends with National Nurses Day on Wednesday, May 12th. Consider sending the nurses in your life a thank you card or video. If you’d like to show your appreciation with a gift, heat and cold therapy pillows or other home massage therapy items like foam rollers and massage balls can help them relax and recover after long shifts.

Mother's Day

Say “ILY” to Mom with DIY security

Moms are protectors by nature; their instinct is to put the wellbeing of the ones they love before their own. And with Mother’s Day approaching on May 9th, now is the perfect time to return the favor and let Mom know that you care about her safety. Blue by ADT DIY security systems are easy enough for anyone to set up and monitor on their own. Here are some things moms can do via the Blue by ADT app:

Keep the kids (or grandkids) out of certain rooms or cabinets. Door and window sensors aren’t just for entryways. They can also be your sixth sense. Place them around “off-limits” areas in your home and get an alert on your smartphone whenever one is triggered.

Have eyes in the palm of your hand. Adding indoor and outdoor smart cameras to your Blue by ADT system lets you check in on the kiddos in the playroom or out in the yard. If you want to be able to greet them when they get home from school, consider adding a doorbell camera as well.

Enjoy more peace of mind. Of course, the primary reason we buy home security systems is to help protect what matters most to us. With Blue, you can feel better knowing that your DIY system is backed by the #1 most trusted name in home security.*

Memorial Day

Pay tribute to our fallen heroes

Memorial Day is Monday, May 31st. Be sure to take a few moments to reflect on and honor the many selfless men and women who gave their lives serving our country. While this day comes only once a year, it’s important that we always remember their sacrifice. If you would like to give back, think about donating or volunteering at a local nonprofit. Many communities have organizations dedicated to helping improve the lives of veterans and those on active duty.
