LifeShield introduces new services, equipment

Voice control, custom rules and a new HD video doorbell demonstrated at Pepcom’s Digital Experience!, ahead of CES 2019
LAS VEGAS—LifeShield, a wireless home security system company, welcomed the New Year with two announcements, one about the addition of service offerings the other about a new piece of equipment.
“LifeShield is all about investing into our customers,” Doug Bellenger, chief product officer, LifeShield, told Security Systems News. “For example, we currently give our customers push notifications with videos, motion detection and voice control via Alexa.”
A Google Assistant skill has been added to LifeShield’s security and smart home services at no additional cost to customers. Available soon, smart devices connected through the LifeShield S30 base will be able to be controlled using voice commands via Google Assistant, in addition to Alexa and IFTTT. With this integration, customers can command their Google Assistant to arm their security system, lock doors, adjust lighting and control thermostats—all of which came about from LifeShield listening to customer feedback and requests, and fulfilling them.
LifeShield is also rolling out its own rules engine, which will enable customers to do more locally, make their own rules and do multiple things with one rule. Fully customizable, customers can schedule when to turn lights off and on, lock or unlock doors, adjust the thermostat, and arm and disarm their system with their voice as well as trigger multiple actions.
“IFTTT can be tied to our own local rules engine,” Bellenger said, giving the following example: “When the system disarms, turn on the AC, but if a window is open, don’t turn on the AC.”
In addition to voice control and customizable rules, LifeShield introduced their new Wi-Fi-enabled doorbell that integrates with LifeShield’s home security system. It features full 1080p HD video resolution and two-way audio support, allowing homeowners to screen visitors and engage in conversation via the LifeShield mobile app or touchpad. The doorbell also features day and night vision modes, the ability to record and store media clips, and watch it live, on-demand and push notifications that alert homeowners with a video of the event in real time. Installation options include hardwire or rechargeable battery.
“The video doorbell includes push notifications, the ability to save images and videos, people and object detection, and it can integrate with our local rules engine,” Bellenger said.
As for the future, Bellenger said that LifeShield is “looking to partner with NVR companies to expand into the commercial sector.”
LifeShield demonstrated the new doorbell camera; sensor offerings, including fire safety, flood/temperature and glass break sensors; and the ability to integrate via Z-Wave and IFTTT with home automation devices such as locks, plug-in appliance and dimmer modules, and thermostats.
